Talking comics in Dublin
Laydeez do Comics is an international network of meetings celebrating the diverse expressions of the comic book medium. Started in 2009 in London, it now has groups across the UK, America, and now Ireland. The Dublin meeting is organised by writers Lynda Rucker and Maura McHugh.
Sarah McIntyre will discuss her approach to promoting her work via events and social media, and balancing it with her work schedule.
Alan Nolan will talk about the monthly comic book strip he’s drawn for The Irish Times called Skrewy Science with Prof Butterknut & Kronk.
Maeve Clancy will talk about her work in the community, such as her current job documenting a craft/youth/mental health project through comics.
There is a suggested donation of €3-5 from everyone attending the meeting to cover the organisers’ costs.
The programme for the meeting is:
Sarah McIntyre talk – 20 minutes
Alan Nolan talk – 20 minutes
Maeve Clancy talk – 20 minutes
Q&A with all three guests
If the first meeting is successful it’s envisioned that it will become a quarterly event in Dublin.
Please note the venue is not wheelchair accessible.
