Talking comics in Dublin
The first Laydeez do Comics was started in London in 2009 by illustrator Nicola Streeten and artist Sarah Lightman. It developed into a monthly series of meetings in the city to explore the diverse expressions of sequential art, with an emphasis on small press and indie titles, comix, and graphic novel memoirs.
The events are women-led, not women-only, and usually feature a range of speakers with a variety of experiences in the comic book industry. Anyone interested in comic books is welcome to attend the meeting.
There are regular LdC meetings around the world in Brighton, Bristol, Chicago, Glasgow, Leeds, London, San Francisco, and Dublin.
