Gareth Gowran

Gareth Gowran is an artist from Dublin. He attended Ballyfermot College of Further Education where he received a Higher National Diploma in Animation. Since then he has worked in a few day jobs while doing various illustration commissions and concept art for publishers.

He was the artist on Atomic Diner’s Formation 7, published in 2010, and was one of the artists on BeActive Media’s graphic novel Collider, a prequel tie-in to their soon-to-be released movie.

In April 2013 he created the Splitting Borders webcomic with Sadhbh Lawlor, a daily strip that takes a slant-eyed view of their life. They write it together and Gareth takes on most of the art duties. In August they DIY published the first 50 strips into Splitting Borders Volumes One and Two.

Gareth is a life-long comic reader, from The Dandy to Batman and from Tintin to Astroboy, which has left him with a deep appreciation for the power of the medium to tell any kind of story. He also has his own blog at garydartagnan.blogspot.com.
